The Lady Bear Softball team will begin round 1 of playoffs this upcoming Thursday, April 25th.  The Lady Bears will face off the Hondo Owls in the best of three series. Depending on the outcome of Thursday, the team will battle again on Saturday, April 27th, and the if necessary game following shortly after.

The team has had to overcome injuries along with tough competition in their district.

“I ended up getting hurt in the beginning of the season so it has really been tough to sit out my senior season” Shelby Rodriguez said.

This year the team will only graduate two seniors, Shelby Rodriguez and Kayla McNeil, so the future seems bring for this young team.

“I know that this is my last year playing but I’m glad that we still have more talent to replace us. I’m excited that we can continue to be successful” Kayla McNeil said.

There is excitement entering this series and is expecting to live up to the standards that past softball teams have set.

“Hondo is a good team with lots of young talent, they will not fall easy. If we play like we know how, we will be successful” Coach Glasscock said.

For the past 27 years, LV softball has made the playoffs and it is what most expect from the team.

“We have a standard to uphold. Simple has that. We are playing for each other along with this community” Regan Burleson said.
